Ancestral river flutes:
Chirimía del Río Napi

La Chirimia del Rio Napi is one of the last groups of its kind in the Afro region of Cauca in southern Colombia. It was formed 25 years ago by musicians who are farmers in the villages on the banks of the Napi River, a 6-hour trip by boat up the river into the forest. Their music is a kind of transition between the sounds of indigenous Andean flutes and the strong drum rhythms characteristic of African roots music of the region.

They interpret traditional forms of Colombian music like Bambuco and Pasillo in their old musical forms, which have been preserved in these regions of the south. The group also plays Rumba, Paseos and Jugas, some from the traditional repertoire, and some melodies composed by group members.

Flautas ancestrales de selva y río:
Chirimía del Río Napi

La Chirimía del Río Napi, es una de las ultimas agrupaciones de estas características de la región Afro del Cauca al sur de Colombia. Está conformada hace 25 años por músicos agricultores de los caseríos que están a orillas del Río Napi, a 6 horas de viaje en lancha río adentro. Su música es una especie de transito entre las sonoridades Andinas de flautas y la fuerza rítmica del tambor característica de las músicas de raíz afro de la región.

El grupo interpreta formas tradicionales de la música Colombiana como Bambuco y Pasillo en sus formas musicales antiguas -que se han conservado en estas regiones del sur del país. El grupo también interpreta ritmos como Rumbas, Paseos y Jugas, varios provenientes del extenso repertorio tradicional, y otros son melodías compuestas por los integrantes del grupo.
